A new buffer to September; join me!

Ah yes, but before I forget, let me say that I've got a slight change of plan when I get back to San Francisco, late July. I was previously planning on moving out of my place at the end of that month, which only gave me 10 days to find someplace new! But my roommate and I formulated a much better strategy that will have me staying put through August.

That is, he is still moving to NYC at the end of July, but I'll stay on for another month to give me a bit more of a buffer. And so we'll need a subletter for August. And I'll have my moving date moving to August 31 or thereabouts. Any referrals for either - especially the latter need of new apartment (with cool roommates) - are greatly appreciated; all previous offers of reciprocation still stand!

Giving less in writing and more in person

It's been about a week since my 2 week BOSS Field course came and went. My time in Utah pained me physically and mentally; I found myself in a stream, sometimes quite literally, of challenges, boredom, and awe (in no particular order), experiencing some surreal and never-done-before(-and-maybe-never-again) episodes far from civilization and, more importantly, my life in San Francisco.

And with an intro like that, I'd like to tell you about it.

Through snippets of action and mindset in what seems now like a far-so-faraway time and place, I'd like to let you know how I ultimately have very fond memories of my time in Boulder (Utah!) and its surrounding alpine forests, winding canyons and sandy-I've-never-seen-so-much-sand deserts, despite - or perhaps because of - the many ups and downs along the way. Utah has not disappointed me yet.

But I'm trying to not just have a straight-up journal here. Sure, most of the postings are seeded by something I did or something that happened to me, but I like to use those sorts of things as jumping off points for philosophical musings (and bullshitting natch). And I'm not sure if I'll be in a place - in my head - to do that sort of analysis until I get back to SF. Hopefully that doesn't sound pretentious or dickish; it's just where I'm at - again, in my head - right now.

That said, I'll still see what I can do to post some interesting slices of life during my upcoming (and continuing) travel. Or at least some off-the-cuff "check out this cool thing/article/website" pointers. And if (when - I hope!) you catch me in person, I'll talk as long as you can stand it; I'll tell you as much minutia as I can muster (and you have interest), and with as much pain and/or passion as appropriate at the time..

In any case, Tomorrow I bid Brooklyn (and the US) goodbye for a few weeks; Estonia, Russia and Kygyzstan await..
